Clear English Word Endings: Meaning Before Perfection

CLEAR ENDINGS

Protect the part that carries meaning.

Notice the information your listener needs, practise it deliberately, then return it to real speech.

What to notice

English endings can mark number, tense and grammar. The goal is not to exaggerate every final sound; it is to leave enough audible information for the listener.

Contrast the pattern

Compare play / played, task / tasks, and need / needs. Hold the vowel steady, then add the ending without inserting an extra vowel.

Transfer it

Choose one sentence containing a plural or past-tense verb. Back-chain from the final word, then say the full sentence at a comfortable pace.
